Download iPhone OS 4.0 beta 2

Apple has recently released its next generation of operating system, the iPhone OS 4.0 beta 2. This beta version is available for download for developers and those eligible and is currently available at Apple’s Developers site. They have just updated the iPhone OS 4.0 to beta 2 and the iPhone 4.0 SDK to beta 2.

Some of well known iPhone hackers have successfully jailbroken the first beta and the most renowned hacker group as far as iPhone is concerned, the Dev Team has released a beta jailbreak for iPhone OS 4.0. Their latest release, the redsn0w 0.9.5 BETA, however only supports the iPhone 3G and only available for Mac OSX. The same pwnage2 DFU-mode exploit is used and there is nothing yet about a jailbreak for beta 2.

As far as this article is concerned, the latest beta is only meant for registered developers. A properly-registered developer UDID is needed to allow you to activate any iPhone beta. Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone Firmware 3.1.3

Recently, we watched Geohotz published the video of untethered Jailbreak for iPod Touch, iPhone & iPad. So here comes another talented jailbreaker, who is also able to perform Userland Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone Firmware 3.1.3.

This Jailbreak, was originally developed and later, demonstrated by Comex. This jailbreak essentially targets a loophole in MobileSafari on iPhone 3.1.3 and makes use of the exploit to get around it. By using this method, users are able to jailbreak their device by pointing to a website instead of loading an exploit to the kernel. The Userland terminology is coined from this situation.

P0sixninja & Musclenerd from the iPhone Dev Team have confirmed that the Jailbreak is genuine. No release time estimate but users should expect it out soon.

Extend iPhone Camera Resolution to 4 Megapixels

2 megapixel camera of iPhone is nothing compared to other smartphones and it just doesn’t come to the mark. With the limited resolution, many applications flood into App Store, claiming to be able to better enhance pictures taken with iPhone. I myself had tried a few of them including Night Camera.

ClearCam is an iPhone application that can somehow improve iPhone camera resolution up to 4 Megapixels. How come?

ClearCam stitches up multiple photos taken using iPhone in order to produce a single 4MP shot. Basically it turns your iPhone into a high quality cameradouble the resolution of the original picture produced by iPhone.

In "Enhanced mode", it takes 6 shots in rapid succession, combine and enhance them and save them to your camera roll.

The image produced appears the same like the standard 2MP photo but it can enlarge up to 4MP. It does come with other functionality like QuickShot mode, a feature that captures 4 shots at once.

Bear in mind though, this app breaks Apple's SDK rules so you won't find this little application in Apple's App Store. You can however download it via Cydia, provided you have a jailbroken iPhone.

iPhone 2.2.1 Firmware is Out and Available for Download

Apple just released a minor update for the iPhone 2.2 firmware. You can update to the latest version by syncing your iPhone with the iTunes. This is just a small update where it brings several fixes and improvements. No significant new features introduced in this update like much rumored "new push notifications and notes sync feature".

Personally I'm a bit disappointed with the absence of new feature but cheer up guys, they will definitely come up soon, probably in the major update along with the most anticipating feature in iPhone; Bluetooth file sharing.

If you have trouble to update the firmware via iTunes, you can directly download the software (240 MB++) via the following links.

After the download is complete, connect your iPhone to iTunes and hit the update button while holding the Shift key (in Windows) or Option key (for Mac). Simply navigate to the directory where you have downloaded the firmware and start the installation.

iPhone 3G Firmware 2.2 Unlock – Yellowsnow is out for Download

Yellowsnow, the ultimate hacking tool to unlock iPhone 3G from iPhone which was initially scheduled to be released on the New Year's eve, finally make its appearance couple days ago. It received serious attention from iPhone community and people who eager to have it one on their hands. After all this application is one of the most anticipated product from Dev Team, a well-known group who is responsible in releasing unlock tool for iPhone 2G and iPod Touch.

Apparently some people who tried the jailbreaking software for iPhone 3G were having some trouble. The iPhone Dev Team took swift action by releasing a new version of the iPhone 3G unlocking software, the revised Beta version, that is v0.9.4 (previously it was v0.9.1).

Yellowsnow 0.9.4 Beta is out now which addresses some complaints that have trickled in upon the release of the group’s first iPhone 3G unlock. By default, it’s now always in quick mode unless you enable the –l option for long mode. PIN support still isn’t quite there yet, but given how fast they were able to come out with this new iteration of Yellowsnow, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if PIN support would become available within the month.

If this new iPhone 3G unlock still doesn’t work on your end, send your complaints to the iPhone Dev Team here so that they can include an appropriate fix in their next release.
